My Students
Do you remember what it was like to be 5 and enter your first classroom for the first time. I would like new frog items for an inviting classroom. Also most 5 year olds are not organized, so I would like two different types of bags to help them learn to keep their books and materials organized.
Do you remember what it was like the first time you entered Kindergarten?
All the amazing and fun items to play with. Little did you know you were learning at the same time. Imagine if you were 5 again however, this time you speak little to no English and you are enrolled in an inner city school.
I currently have 21 students enrolled in my Kindergarten ELL classroom. Not only do I have the challenge of their language background but the school itself is an inner city school. We are a Title I school, which means most students are free and reduced lunch. They are eager students who want to learn the most they can. Each day is a new beginning for them. I want them to reach all that they possibly can. One way to do this is by offering as much hands-on manipulatives as possible.
When they are actively engaged students tend to become disorganized. I would like to help my students with their clutter while reaching their fullest potential. Can you help us with this?
My Project
My students need individual book bags/seat bags to help keep their items organized. We have a frog theme and would like new frog materials for our classroom. The frogs will have the student's picture on them and the logs will have their name. The 3-D frogs I will hang from the ceiling to make the room inviting. The frog tablet I will make name necklaces to wear to all special skill areas and lunch. The seat bags will help to organize the seat area and literacy stations. The book bags will be used in student library center and for them to take their books home and read with their mom and dad each night. I want my students to be the best readers they can. No one works well with clutter. Please help me show the students how to become organized so their fullest potential of learning can come through.
I have been teaching for 14 years.
I have found in the inner city schools most families do not have the funds to help support their child's learning. I like to send items home with them so learning goes everywhere, to help keep them focused and on task. Please help me be able to send these items home but protect the books in the process from getting damaged. I appreciate all of your help and support for my wonderful babies.
