From Floor Seats to Fidget Feats: Jazz Up Our Classroom!
Help me give my students a rich learning experience with flexible seating, sensory tools, social-emotional games, and engaging books that support their diverse needs, promote focus, build skills, and encourage growth and collaboration.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
As a special education teacher in a collaborative classroom, my dedication to my students' growth and well-being is unwavering. Each child in our classroom brings their own set of strengths and challenges, and it’s my mission to create an environment where everyone can excel.
The calming corner seats are essential for providing a quiet, safe space where students can retreat to manage sensory overload and regain focus.
For those who struggle with sensory processing, tools like liquid motion bubblers and kinetic sand offer interactive and soothing experiences that help maintain calm and concentration. These sensory resources are crucial for keeping students engaged and helping them regulate their emotions.
Social-emotional learning games will be invaluable in helping students understand and articulate their feelings. These games promote emotional intelligence and foster empathy, which are vital for creating a supportive and connected classroom environment. The selection of books and STEM activities will inspire curiosity and encourage collaborative learning. By integrating these resources, we can create a stimulating and inclusive atmosphere that makes learning both enjoyable and effective.
My goal for this project is to enhance our classroom's ability to meet the diverse needs of all students, turning challenges into opportunities for growth. By equipping our space with these resources, I aim to boost engagement, improve emotional regulation, and foster a lifelong love of learning.
What makes my students special is their remarkable resilience and creativity. Each day, they demonstrate incredible potential and offer unique perspectives. With these resources, I am confident we can transform everyday challenges into successes, helping each student achieve their full potential in a nurturing and dynamic learning environment.
