My Project
Students learn best and are able to understand and remember concepts when they are provided with learning experiences! The materials in this project will allow students to each create their own 3D models of the solar system and lead to active and engaging learning.
Building 3D solar system models will enhance students' conceptual understanding of outerspace, develop spatial reasoning, and provide a sense of accomplishment and engagement!
My goal for this project is to provide a hands-on experience that helps students develop a deeper thinking of the solar system and it's importance. It will help them to learn spatial reasoning and how the planets orbit the sun. This project will progress students' academic achievement!
We will use the materials to create 3D models of the solar system. They will be able to create realistic versions of the planets using the styrofoam balls and paint. The other materials will help us to gain a better understanding of the solar system and planets before creating our own.
I work in a Title I building, many of my students come from low income households and one of our goals as a Title I building is to help close the gap academically. Hands on science experiences not only help students understand the science concept themselves, but also progress their transferable skills like problem solving, collaboration, research, and communication.
