From Financial Literacy to Buying Desired Toys!

My Project

The majority of my 6th graders have Autism or another learning disability and thrive by learning with real-life items, like Legos, that they are able to relate to.

In the sixth grade we focus on financial literacy, by helping to teach the importance of saving and how they can use their savings to buy preferred items like Legos, building block kits, fidgets etc.

With teaching about money comes lengthy lists of numbers, which the calculators and wet erase markers will assist in making the process more bearable. The Lego sets will be fantastic hands-on incentives for my students to work for. Not only will they enjoy building the projects, but being able to admire them for the rest of the year will make their hearts so happy.

On top of that, they will be beaming for years to come as they admire their financial literacy projects that they were able to make in my class, while stopping by to say a quick hello.
