My Students
Help my students build vocabulary in the areas of speaking, listening, reading, and writing!
My students are highly energetic and very much engaged in the learning process.
Each day at school is an adventure, discovering and conquering new material. Unfortunately, 100% of my class receives free or reduced lunch. This means that the socioeconomic status of every single student is at or below the poverty level. This translates to those students having limited to no resources and/or opportunities to help them become proficient in their academic endeavors. In fact, our school's student population of 500 is at least 98% impoverished. These sad facts, however, do not hinder their motivation. All that is needed are the proper learning materials to ensure academic success.
My Project
This project will increase my students vocabulary and oral language which are critical to literacy. If my students learn the basics of reading by age six, then they're more likely to become proficient readers and successful in their academic performance. They will learn to read in a way that is engaging, exciting, empowering, and just plain entertaining. With your support, my students will learn to read using award-winning, research-based materials that are fun and engaging. I have requested vocabulary and oral language games and puzzles. Your donation will build our reading and language arts learning centers with quality reading materials that will surely develop life-long learners with a passion for literacy.
Fab Vocab seeks to build early literacy skills in Kindergarten students.
By interacting with vocabulary building activities my early learners will develop phonological and phonemic awareness, fluency, and text comprehension, all of which are vital to learning to read. Your donation will furnish these games and puzzles, thereby providing opportunities to strengthen pre-reading skills. Your partnership will foster a love of reading and enrich these students' lives forever.
