My Students
Thanks to DonorsChoose our Lady Tigers have the once in a lifetime opportunity to visit Florida State University and meet the Seminoles, women's softball team! For this awesome experience, our Lady Tigers will need to standout and represent their team and community via team hoodies!
My middle school students have endured in life what most adults never wish to experience but still have the courage to continue on.
Battling an environment plagued with poverty, drugs and gang violence, our school strives to provide these young girls with hope. The Lady Tigers have become so much more than just mere softball to our girls. For them, softball has become a way of life, a means to escape the harsh reality of their circumstances and simply enjoy being a teen. They have become like my daughters who I have adopted into my heart. Recently, I have added college tours in order to expose my girls to a world beyond their concrete jungle. Each trip conveyed to my girls that softball can unlock endless educational opportunities. Sadly, most of my girls have become fixated on the notion of perpetual failure. I refuse for this belief to become their reality and I will continue to fight for their education and be that positive male figure in their lives that will never quit on them.
My Project
DonorsChoose has given my girls the opportunity to go to Florida State University where they will be mentored by one of the best women's softball teams. Only five teams in the history of the NCAA have been to more Women’s College World Series than Florida State and no school east of Arizona has been to more NCAA Tournaments than the Seminoles. When we embark on this great adventure, the girls and their chaperones will wear the team hoodies donated which will not only further unify them and help them represent their team and community but will also keep them safe and easily identifiable as our large group travels out of state for the first time.
Our girls have already been given the chance of a lifetime by learning Donorschoose will be sending them to Florida State University!
Help make this trip memorable by unifying our girls and keeping them safe in easily identifiable team hoodies! They will be able to represent their team and community!
