My Project
My students continue to impress me with their creativity and inventiveness. They love building and designing, and I want to empower them to take those talents even further by stepping into the role of young entrepreneurs.
With this project, students will use a variety of craft supplies—such as paints, pipe cleaners, paper, beads, and fabric—to engineer original creations that they'll offer at a classroom "marketplace." Students from other classes will earn play money throughout the week and use it to "shop" during the market event.
This experience will foster essential life skills such as budgeting, problem-solving, time management, and teamwork. As they create products and prepare to sell them, students will learn how to make decisions, market their items, and manage their earnings—all while having fun and expressing their creativity.
Throughout the process, they’ll gain hands-on experience with real-world concepts like supply and demand, pricing, and financial responsibility. They’ll also develop pride and confidence in their work as they see their ideas come to life and shared with others.
This marketplace project combines art, economics, and engineering in a way that inspires student engagement and supports social-emotional growth. It’s more than a classroom activity—it’s a launchpad for future creators and innovators!
