From Classroom to Career: Financial Literacy with Tech

I’m seeking a classroom laptop to teach financial literacy to 8th–9th graders. Technology access will enhance instruction and provide real-world skills to students from a low-income, high-need community.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I have the privilege of teaching 8th and 9th grade students in a vibrant yet under-resourced community where 72% of our students qualify for free and reduced lunch. Many of our families face food insecurity on a regular basis, and our school is committed to doing everything we can to ensure students have what they need to thrive—academically, emotionally, and physically.

In my classroom, students engage in a rigorous and empowering curriculum that includes financial literacy, algebra, Language Arts, STEM-based activities, and career and college readiness.

We go beyond the textbooks by providing real-world exposure through college campus visits and field trips to local employers, helping students envision and plan for a successful future.

However, we are in critical need of basic classroom supplies and student snacks. Many of our students arrive each day without the essentials: notebooks, pencils, calculators, and even something as simple—but vital—as a nutritious snack. A hungry child cannot focus, and a child without supplies is at an unfair disadvantage from the start.

I am also seeking support for a classroom laptop to facilitate instruction, research, lesson planning, and engagement with interactive online resources. Access to this technology would allow me to better serve my students and integrate more dynamic learning opportunities into our daily activities.

Your generous donation—whether it's financial support, classroom supplies, snacks, or technology—can directly impact the lives of young people who are working hard to break the cycle of poverty through education. Every item and every dollar brings us one step closer to ensuring equity and opportunity for all students, regardless of their background.

Thank you for considering an investment in our classroom. With your help, we can create a learning environment where every student feels supported, seen, and inspired to reach their full potential.
