From Chaos to Calm: Helping Kids Regulate in Class
Help me give my students a tablet, rocker chair, sensory tools, visual timers, and calming supports to create a fully-equipped regulation station where students can reset, refocus, and return to learning.

My Project
My fourth-grade students are full of energy, curiosity, and big feelings. Many of them come to school carrying emotional burdens that make learning difficult—whether it’s stress from home, struggles with attention, or big emotions they haven’t learned to manage yet. I want to meet those needs with compassion and structure.
To support them, I’m building a calming corner—a dedicated space in our classroom where students can pause, regulate their emotions, and return to learning with focus and confidence.
This space will include tactile fidgets, sensory tools, and a wall-mounted tablet offering calming visuals, soothing music, and breathing exercises they can choose independently.
A key piece of this space will be a soft swivel recliner, giving students a safe and soothing place to gently rock, ground their bodies, and reset their nervous systems. When kids feel emotionally safe and in control, they’re able to access learning in powerful ways. This project isn’t just about creating a cozy corner—it’s about building lifelong emotional regulation skills that support both well-being and academic success.
