My students need funding to see the movie Bully. By giving them exposure to this movie we can then help them improve our own school culture and the world around us.
Did you know bullying can stop in 10 seconds if someone intervenes? Seeing the movie Bully will allow my students to see the harmful effects of bullying and lead to discussions about how they can prevent it from happening.
I work at a true public inner city middle school that has been hit really hard by recent budget cuts.
We are a Title 1 school with 85% of our students receiving free or reduced lunch. Though the odds are stacked against them our students are high achieving. We believe that our job is not just to teach our students but to make them conscientious citizens in the future.
My Project
We are requesting funding to be able to take 200 students to see the movie Bully to help spur conversations about the effects of bullying. The money will go to the tickets and transportation to and from the theater. We will also be able to run a special viewing for our students to allow for both pre and post discussion.
Through the viewing of the movie and the post viewing activities we can help our students leave the role of the bystander to become change agents in our school community and the world around them.
