My Project

Our transition-aged students (ages 18–26) are learning essential vocational and life skills as they prepare for adulthood. One of the best ways to support their growth is by giving them real-world job experiences right here at school—and that’s why we’re asking for your help to bring a slushie machine to our classroom!

This slushie machine will be a key part of our school store, a student-run business that teaches practical job skills such as food preparation, money handling, customer service, and teamwork.

Students will take on roles such as cashier, server, stocker, and cleaner—just like in a real job. It’s hands-on, engaging, and incredibly motivating.

The machine will also provide opportunities to practice functional academics like counting money and reading recipes, communication skills through customer interactions, and fine motor skills through pouring and prepping. Plus, it’s a hit with our entire school community—students and staff alike will love stopping by the school store for a refreshing slushie.

Our students are vibrant, capable young adults with a wide range of disabilities. Many have significant cognitive, physical, medical and communication needs, but all are full of potential. With the right tools and support, they thrive in structured, real-world learning environments.

They are working hard to build independence, confidence, and workplace readiness—and your support will help make that possible.

What We Need:

1 slushie/frozen drink machine

Starter supplies (syrups, cups, straws, lids, etc.)

This project directly supports our transition curriculum and helps students build skills they’ll use long after graduation. It creates a sense of pride, ownership, and inclusion as they operate a real business that serves the school community.

Your support helps us prepare our students not just for jobs—but for meaningful, empowered lives.
