My Project
In our classroom, sensory play is more than just fun, it’s a powerful tool for early learning. I’m seeking support to build a collection of sensory bin fillers and tools that align with our thematic learning units. These materials will help bring our curriculum to life through hands-on, imaginative exploration.
For our spring unit on the bee life cycle, we would love materials like black and yellow beads, mini bees, artificial flowers, and textured grass to simulate the environment of a buzzing hive.
Our colors and shapes unit will benefit from a vibrant array of assorted beads in different sizes and forms, giving students a chance to explore sorting and patterning through touch and play. For our “All About Us” unit, we hope to receive wooden peg dolls that children can decorate to represent themselves and the members of our class community. We are including various shades of skin color manipulatives to represent the diversity of our students. My goal is for every student to see themselves reflected in the classroom materials, fostering a sense of belonging and pride. Students will use the colors of crayons and markers during activities and lessons to explore concepts while connecting to their own identities. We are excited to add these materials to support an inclusive and engaging learning environment. The scoops, tongs, and shovels will support all of our sensory bins, helping children strengthen fine motor skills while they explore.
