Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Hands on experiences are such a great way to bring science alive in the classroom! The students learn more when they can connect learning to something they can see and touch.

My school, where I was the librarian for 20 years, closed the library due to funding choices.

I am now the 1st grade teacher. My students all get free breakfast and lunch. They live in a low income, inner-city neighborhood. Our school population is about 70% Latino and 30% African-American.

My Project

My students will become observant scientists, they will record their observations and learn about the life cycle of a frog. We will be reading the frog and toad books and learning the difference between fiction and non-fiction. Also, students will be able to develop responsibility as we grow the frogs. They will do research on the care and feeding of frogs.

Having the opportunity to provide a hands-on learning experience for my students would be awesome!

Making real-world connections to their learning will engage my students and increase their attention.
