Frindle (frin'dle) n. a writing device; usually a pen
My students need a classroom set of "Frindle" by Andrew Clements, an audio version of the book to read along to as a class and to place at the listening center, a copy of a teacher's guide to enrich their reading experience and an additional four books for the listening center and for the checkout library.

it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
It's a simple matter of semantics, really! One of my favorite things about teaching third grade is being able to teach them so many colorful words that enrich their vocabulary. "Frindle," is a book about a precocious little boy (I've got a few of those in my class!) who makes up another word for pen, which annoys his teacher. Or so he thinks. The book is full of humor and opens up a discussion about the meaning of words and how they evolve.
I teach at a low-income inner-city school, largely populated with second language learners. My students all have textbooks in their desks and other essentials. However, our school is starving for chapter books!
We desperately need a class set of chapter books. My third graders are at a crossroads, making their transition from picture books to the more mature chapter books. Many of them love checking them out from the library, but never end up finishing them because they find them overwhelming. And how could they not? When they've never had the opportunity to read one all the way through with the guidance of a teacher.
This set of books would mean the world to my kids! We recently borrowed a set of books ("My Father's Dragon") from my third grade colleague who received them from donors choose. They loved reading along with the CD and taking the book home to read a chapter. I could tell they felt grown up and special. They were so excited one day that they begged me to assign TWO chapters of reading in one night! It brings tears to my eyes to remember it now. I was so proud of them and their interest in reading. I want to keep this momentum going. Would you please help me do this?
