Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Students at my school come from high poverty areas where even leaving the building is dangerous, no matter what time of day. The school is not too far away, but it is at least a train ride away and provides some distance from their home lives.

These students risk their own safety and come to school instead of staying home, locked behind their doors, because they want better lives.

It is my mission to arm them with the skills they need to attain and lead those better lives.

My Project

These books will be used to promote the social emotional learning for the students during these challenging times. It is so hard to see one's self reflected in literature, but this book really gets that accomplished.

At the end of the day, everyone is different and everyone is the same because we are all in this together.

We will be able to read these books together, discuss what makes us unique during our zoom sessions, write about what makes us one, learn from each other in class and after through our posts, and learn how to help and understand each other.
