Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach 21 second-graders at a Title I school in southern California. We are a small school consisting of approximately 300 students led by a passionate, supportive, and fun-loving principal. My students are eager and enthusiastic learners who are excited to learn. They may come from various circumstances and backgrounds, but in my classroom, they are equal partners and participants.

I strive to provide my students with a variety of opportunities to bring their learning to life and enhance the curriculum.

I'm always looking for ways to add more fun, rigor, and excitement to their learning, and to enrich my teaching skills and strategies.

My Project

My library needs some new book collections! I am looking for engaging books to add to my library that are relevant and entertaining.

I am inspired to refresh my classroom library with collections of Junie B Jones, Judy Moody & Friends, and Ivy and Bean.

These particular collections focus on friends and adventures. I am also excited to use them as Read-Aloud books to introduce them to my students. I am planning to organize these in their own baskets so that they will be highlighted in the classroom. Research shows that it is important to engage students before third grade, and I want to help them grow in their love of reading!
