My Project
I'm requesting help to pay for a weekly treat for my ESL students. Every Friday I give them a granola bar on their way out the door. I started this tradition during my first year of teaching and now in year 5, it's turned into my signature treat at the end of the week. Students are delighted the first time they get one and remind me like clockwork every Friday so I don't forget. For example, they walk into class, and immediately tell me, "¡Miss Molinar es viernes de barritas! (It's granola bar Friday!)"
Previous students come by during lunch or class transition to visit me and grab a granola bar, which they fondly call "barritas." Over the years I've found that it's a great community builder and that a small treat can make them feel special.
Over the years my class sizes have grown, and more and more former students visit so I've had to buy more each year. Many students come and ask for barritas in the morning because they are hungry at other points in the week as well. Bills have gone up, but my salary has not. I'd greatly appreciate any and all help to ensure my students past and present get a sweet treat!
