This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our classroom serves a vibrant community of learners who bring creativity and rich cultural backgrounds to school each day. I’m excited to launch a project that will allow them to connect with the work of a celebrated Mexican artist, Frida Kahlo, while also having a dedicated space for their own self-expression.

I plan to transform a section of our classroom into a “Frida Kahlo Wall” with inspiring artwork, books, and quotes from Kahlo’s life.

This project includes a chalkboard wall where students will be free to draw, write, and create in their spare time, fostering a space for self-expression and encouraging creativity. By seeing themselves represented through Kahlo’s story and having a place to let their imagination soar, I hope my students feel valued, inspired, and connected to their heritage.

Your support would make this dream come to life! This wall will not only add color and life to our room but will also provide a safe, artistic outlet where students can connect with each other and the world around them. My students need Frida Khalo books, paper, paint, and lights. Thank you for considering helping us celebrate our students’ voices and cultural pride through art!
