This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

One of the greatest challenges that both students and teachers have faced since coming back from the pandemic is the incentive to do school work. In the last few years I have struggled more with getting students off of games on their laptops and phones than any previous year teaching. This has been especially challenging with Freshmen students as they are transitioning from the restrictions of middle school to the more lax environment that high school often provides. To incentivize my students to focus on class work instead of distractions I will be creating a class wide and individual incentive program. Students will be able to use the tickets to collect a variety of prizes or turn them in for larger class wide incentives. Also, if a class as a whole is good then they will get stickers on their data chart to turn in for a class wide prize. The purpose with all this is to build not only our class community but to also help the students work together to be successful. This is especially important after the pandemic since the students were so isolated during that time.
