Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Many of my students are the first in their family to make it into high school. All hope and strive to reach an even higher goal: graduate high school and attend college. My students attend an inner city high school, where more than 80% of them are at risk for dropping out and are economically disadvantaged. Although my students arrive to my freshman English class with such disadvantages, they have a burning desire and need for learning about their world.

My Project

The binders, tabs, and pencil pouches will be for those students who cannot afford to pay for such expensive materials.

Students at our inner city school are used to only buying a journal and maybe a ream of paper, so asking for a binder can be a lot to ask for from their parents.

The binders are materials that are more durable, better for organizing assignments/homework, and will inspire high expectations from and for our students.

These materials are some that I would love to provide to my students from my own pocket, but sadly cannot afford to do so.
