Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My classroom community consists of 25 enthusiastic children. This year, the school community has been affected more than any other year as my school and students live in what was once the epicenter of COVID-19 in NYC. They come from low income, immigrant families, that work hard, and value education. My students aren’t always fortunate enough to have even the most basic supplies. Despite their struggles, they have come to school this year excited and ready to learn even during one of the most inconsistent and unpredictable years for learning. My goal is to provide my students with opportunities and materials to explore, see, and learn. The children are like sponges, soaking up everything that they are taught.
My students come to class excited about learning and motivated to do their best.
School is a safe place for them to learn and to be given the tools they need to succeed.
My Project
These materials will help my students begin their Kindergarten school year with a fresh start. The COVID-19 pandemic has greatly affected my school community causing an even greater financial hardship to the already existing personal family hardships.
This project will help me take away some of the financial stresses that students and families may have or worry about by providing them with the basic supplies needed to support their learning.
These supplies will allow my students to begin their educational careers without the stress of worrying how to pay for materials that are essential to their learning.
