it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
As a teacher in a Title l/ low-income school, I have the honor of teaching fabulous first graders every day. My students face daily challenges outside of the classroom. Many of my students come from broken, single-parent households where school is the only consistency in their life. These materials will help my students get all the supplies that they need to have a successful year in First Grade. When students have the supplies they need in the classroom, the classroom then will become a "community of learners" that will become leaders. My students were affected by a plethora of challenges last two years during the COVID-19 pandemic. All of these supplies will be used each and every day by my students. They will be able to have take home folders, writing journals to keep all year long, and pouches to hold all their individual supplies of scissors, glue and crayons. It will also give them a safe, fun learning environment to ensure their basic needs in the classroom are met!
