Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

In our 6th grade class in Waterbury, CT, many students face daily challenges that go beyond academics. Basic hygiene items can have a profound impact on their well-being, confidence, and ability to focus on learning. My goal is to be able to provide these essential items to my students, ensuring they feel clean, comfortable, and ready to succeed in the classroom.

When students are worried about basic hygiene, it can distract them from learning.

Self-consciousness about body odor, dry skin, or chapped lips can affect their confidence and make them hesitant to participate in class. Providing deodorant, lotion, and ChapStick helps students focus on their schoolwork instead of their discomfort. Calming strips and water bottles support mental and physical well-being, allowing students to manage stress and stay hydrated throughout the day. Healthy snacks ensure that students can concentrate on learning rather than hunger.

By meeting these basic needs, we can help our students feel more secure, engaged, and ready to take on the academic challenges of 6th grade.
