My Project
I teach an incredible group of elementary special education students with autism in District 75 in the Bronx. My students are bright, curious, and full of potential, but they also face unique challenges that require a structured, sensory-friendly, and clean learning environment. Maintaining a fresh and sanitized classroom is essential to their success, as many of my students have sensory sensitivities and health concerns that can be triggered by strong odors or unclean spaces.
The items in this project—disinfecting wipes, multi-surface cleaner, and air fresheners—will help create a classroom that feels safe, welcoming, and comfortable.
Regular cleaning reduces germs, which is especially important for students with sensory sensitivities who may struggle with hygiene or frequently put items in their mouths. Meanwhile, the air fresheners provide a calming and consistent scent, helping to regulate their sensory experiences and promote focus.
My goal is to ensure my students have an environment where they can thrive academically and socially. A clean classroom reduces distractions, prevents illness-related absences, and fosters a space where students feel secure and ready to learn. Many of my students rely on routine and familiarity, and having a fresh-smelling, well-maintained classroom helps them feel at ease.
With your support, I can continue to provide a classroom where my students feel comfortable, engaged, and ready to reach their full potential. Thank you for helping me give them the best possible learning experience!
