French Pétanque Game

My Project

Young people today, especially after COVID often lack social skills. As a French language teacher, my job is not only to teach them to communicate in French but also help them build their social / emotional skills.

My goals for this project is for students to play a culturally authentic game that they would otherwise never have a chance to experience.

These specific balls will allow me to create Pétanque game sets for my class so they can play together, as a class, tournament style. These balls will also allow us to play indoors, at any time of year. As they play students will learn how to work as a team, develop critical thinking skills and how to effectively communicate with each other all while using their French language skills.

This game will make a difference in their learning because it uses play to enhance their learning both of the French language and important social / emotional skills. It will help them grow, both linguistically and as human beings.

My students are special because they are mine. Their lives aren't always easy but they are good kids who genuinely want to learn and experience all the world has to offer. I may not be able to give them the world but I want to bring as much of it to them as I can.
