My Students
We are a band on the verge of greatness, but we need your help! We have 238 students from two middle schools and a high school in our band program. Four years ago, our marching band had only 46 members, but now...we boast 78! However, our instruments are all very old, and we are in a low-income area where many students have to borrow a school instrument. We are quickly running out of instruments! Our hope is for funding to help us finish this year strong and purchase new instruments and equipment that will help us for the next 15+ years! Students cannot feel successful on an instrument or equipment that is holding them back, so we hope you will help us!
My Project
We are finding ourselves shying away from quality literature because we lack french horns. Many students want to play this instrument, but have to means of obtaining their own. We plan to use this horn to utilize the talents of those students who wish to try it. This should also help our marching program in the future due to the ability of these students to switch to mellophone. Future marching shows may consist of the horn, as well.
French horns are regarded as the most versatile instrument of them all, but we only have one (it is very old).
