Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are great. They love learning and they enjoy coming to school. My students are mostly immigrants or children of immigrants. Many are English language learners (ELLs). Nearly all students at my school receive free or reduced-price lunch because their family's household incomes are below the poverty line.

My school is a large, crowded school, in a very large urban district.

This past year, we have had a lot of budget cuts. Fourteen staff members from our school were cut. Most of our budget has been used to keep the teachers and staff that we do have. Even though the school has limited resources, students have some of the highest test scores in the area.

My Project

Help my students keep learning from home! My school will be starting with remote learning and students need materials to help them learn from home. Few of my students have access to printers and digital assignments are challenging for young learners. These workbooks will allow my students to continue to develop their writing skills while at home. The colorful images are inviting for young learners and the writing activities are age-appropriate. We will use these books in class daily. They will help provide structure to our remote learning and will be a great vocabulary resource.
