My Students
Paper and pencil is out the door and digital is in! Gone are the days of paper and pencil. My students are excited about opportunities to work with concrete objects and materials, and would love to use digital cameras to document their learning and to create projects.
I have a wonderful group of 23 first graders.
They are lively, energetic and excited about learning. We are a high need school in which the ESL population has increased by 500% in the past three years. Almost 50% of our student qualify for free and reduced lunch.
My Project
To help learn sight words and phonics rules, we do lots of hands on activities: using playdoh, magnet letters, or letter beads for instance to build words. It would be wonderful to allow students to use a digital camera to document their work.
Children will also be able to use the digital camera to create learning activities. I'd love to have students go out in the field or to the playground to find shapes or letters in the equipment or in nature and create a presentation with their pictures!
What a powerful learning experience!
Having access to digital cameras in the classroom will transform traditional learning tasks to 21st Century learning activities.
These cameras will allow my students to document their learning and produce vibrant learning activities and presentations of their own, creating an engaging and exciting learning environment.
