Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students have GRIT! Character. Spirit. Perseverance. Passion.

Cesar Chavez once said, "Preservation of one's own culture does not require contempt or disrespect for other cultures." I work with students from all over the world.

We have students from Central America, to students from the Philippines, Korea, Bangladesh, Thailand, Mongolia, and Africa. Our diversity makes us unique and our campus is a great big melting pot set up perfectly for all to learn and embrace others' cultures. We are combating prejudice and ignorance with knowledge.

My Project

I am requesting a new ipad with hopefully all the programs/software that we need to work on our "Melting Pot" project. We need the ipad for programs like iMovie and Comic Life. The student will be interviewing their friends and family to teach their classmates about a culture that is not that of their own. Students will utilize flip cameras that we've so fortunately acquired from a previous donorschoose project to videotape events and interviews. Students will use the ipad to create iMovies about that culture that they've researched. I will teach them how to import the footage, edit, add audio tracks, dissolves, and ultimately create a movie that can tell a story without words. We will upload and share theirs movies on our google drive and henceforth teach and inform others who are not in our class.

We do not choose where we come from or who we come from.

But we can make the best out of anything. A Wooden quote I always tell the kids is "Don't let what you can't do stop you from doing what you can."

My students can learn about multiculturalism. They are so fortunate that our school is like a mini-united nation and they need to take advantage of learning about our cultures so that they can be open-minded about life and events. We need an ipad to complete this lesson and enhance our learning.
