This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

One of our goals as we go through the school year is to expand our minds and knowledge about Greek mythology. I can have my students come to class each day and lecture them about the Greek gods, who they are, and their relevance. But instead of doing that, I find that they can achieve that through doing something that they love, reading, but not reading, but doing it with something that they love.

The Percy Jackson series is a great way to get my students ready, read, and engaged because each chapter provides them with something interesting for them to build on.

They are learning about a new God/Goddess and mythical creature as they read. For me, English Language Learners, they are given the opportunity to engage in a fun and entertaining chapter book during our read-aloud
