Frayed At the Seams

My students need to have reading material! They are book lovers who actively seek out reading material, but our books are falling apart.

My Students

I teach two sections of reading, English language arts, writing, and spelling to an amazing group of 5th-grade students. Being leaders of our school and community is an important role we have, and taking our learning to the next level is something we work hard for.

We strive on being like our class pet Spike and using our hearts and minds in our everyday lives.

By putting our best self forward, we know that we can do anything we set our mind to.

My Project

My students enjoy reading, once I entice them with a good book. My classroom library is in need of new books due to the fact that a lot of our old favorites are being held together with tape and rubber bands! I love to see and hear my kids talking to each other about the latest good book they read. I love to see a book getting passed around from one child to the next. I hate to see book pages falling out, kids upset because a book they wanted to read was ruined and now they can't read it, or a kid upset because they can't finish a book because a chapter is missing.

I teach a group of students who include special education students to gifted or advanced students.

I need to have a wide range of book levels and topics to ensure that all of my students have a book that is appropriate for their interests and levels. My students work hard and try to read at the highest ends of their levels to push themselves and they also love to read many genres.
