My Students
I have a diverse group of children. Many of my second graders take learning in their own hands with independent projects. While other children are still working on letter recognition. All of my students are motivated to learn!
I have a very diverse class.
My class is about 1/2 Caucasian, 1/3 African American, with the remainder Hispanic or Asian. The children come from varied socioeconomic backgrounds. Many of my students receive free and reduced lunch. Our school is in an affluent area, however, we have many students who receive free or reduced lunch.
My Project
We will use the IPad Minis in a variety of ways. I plan on using them in small groups for reading instruction/ remediation.I also plan on allowing my students to use them to enhance independent projects. I have very motivated learners. We will use the iPads throughout the school day in all areas of the curriculum. In math we use apps like Moby Max, teacher tube, and math playground. For reading, I use Reading A-Z, Starfall, reading Rainbow, Tumblebooks, and more! I use many grammar sites,and the possibilities are endless for Social Studies and Science. I will also use the IPads to collect RTI data. Currently I use my phone, but I'd prefer to have a larger screen for the children to see.
The iPad minis will make a difference in my classroom because they will be easily accessible to all my students.
We have computers but by the time students are able to log on, computer time is over. With the iPads the students will be on instantly. This will allow them more time to get a bigger benefit.
