Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We are a classroom of 4th grade ELL/ESL students in a Title I community school. My students are 9 and 10 years old.
My students are very active and are hands-on learners. They love to see and touch everything they are learning.
These students work well in small groups to help each other learn the science and math standards. Every student in my class has different abilities that they share with others to help our classmates learn with us. We are truly a class of active learners.
My Project
Fractions are just another part of math that we learn in the fourth grade. They are something that we can use in our everyday life so we feel it is important that our students master adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing fractions as well as what fractions are equal.
We all remember how frightening fractions looked when we started learning them as children, and wouldn't have been nice if we had some support.
Now our kiddos can have that support. These fraction discs will help our students learn what fractions are and how they go together.
In the event that we must transition our learning to an online venue, these will allow my students to continue working from home. They will not have as much math anxiety if they the manipulatives they need to succeed!
