My Students

Fractions, and decimals, and percents, oh my! These concepts can be confusing to many children. Learning these math concepts is made much easier through the use of hands-on manipulatives.

My students are very ethnically diverse.

We have nine different home languages, and about 50% are on the free and reduced lunch program. My students are hardworking and inquisitive learners. They learn best when they are actively involved with materials that engage their learning styles.

My Project

The BossECUbes, fraction circles, and fraction rings that I have requested will provide many opportunities for the students to use hands-on objects to solve problems and learn about fractions, decimals, and percents. This is more than just memorizing an algorithm; this is uncovering mathematical patterns and learning how math works. The math books are the hook that draws the students’ attention.

These materials will have a lasting effect on the students’ understandings of mathematical concepts.

The manipulatives will help my students to internalize the meanings of fractions, decimals, and percents. The children’s confidence in their math skills will increase because of your generous donation.
