This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Student at our school come from a variety of backgrounds: for example, English as a second language, poverty, working middle class, single parent families, foster care and even homeless. Regardless of background we get along and enjoy learning and growing together. Students know one of the keys to success is being able to read. Together we enjoy a multitude of books that stretch our imaginations and grow our thinking. Schools offers opportunities to students that they don’t have at home.

My Project

Fractions are an essential part of life. Many professionals need a working knowledge of fractions. I want my students to have every opportunity to develop a deep understanding of fractions and how they work in the real world. Students need opportunities to learn about fractions in many different ways.

The materials of this project provide students with the freedom to learn and deepen their understanding of fractions through games, practice, visualization and reading comprehension.

Students are more engaged in their learning when activities are hands on. Even the books engage students with activities that they can use with the manipulatives from this project. Practice is also essential to learning about fractions. Help my students become experts in fractions to become the professionals that use them.
