My Students
Fractions demystified. This is the goal of this project. My students will use this wide variety of activities to help them understand the concept of fractions and decimals.
My students are amazing!
Our school is located in a rural part of central California in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains. Many of my students come from middle to low income families. My students come to school every day excited to learn something new and ready to take on a new challenge.
My Project
After whole class instruction of the basic understanding around fractions, students will be place in small groups to further their understanding of fractions and their relationship with decimals. The activities will reinforce the concepts taught in a whole group setting and ensure understanding of the basic concepts of fraction, equivalent fractions, multiplying fractions and how fractions and decimals are related.
Fractions can be a very difficult concept to understand.
These games will help students learn how fractions work and how they are related to decimals. Many of these materials will present fractions in a hands on way so students will have the opportunity to manipulate and compare fractions and decimals.
Students will engage in interactive games to learn these concepts.
