This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students require a place to assemble in an orderly fashion for their lessons.
My students are sweet but somewhat low functioning as they come from a depressed area.
They attend a public school that lacks the basic necessities to achieve higher learning such as a place to sit on the floor. My students are eager, energetic, and starving for knowledge.
My Project
My classroom requires a meeting rug. It is on this rug my students receive nearly all their individual lessons ( math, reading, social studies, science, etc. ) Without this focal point precious minutes will be lost from every single lesson. This time would be consumed in classroom management.
It is really a question of math.
Without a rug for the students to gather, they stand to lose one to three minutes of every lesson while I struggle to get them under control. Four lessons a day times the average of two minutes is a lot lost. My students deserve a comfortable place to sit and learn.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
