My students need phonics interactive activities and letters to build phonemic awareness for struggling readers.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. A.'s classroom raised $596
This project is fully funded
My Students
The vast majority of our students are currently living at or below the poverty level. Many of our students lack the fundamental skills needed to become proficient readers, writers, and mathematicians. It is often difficult for our students to put aside the conditions and hardships they face at home in order to concentrate on their school work. Many of our students have parents who have not acquired a high school and/or college education. Many students struggle with social and emotional issues.
My Project
Many students still struggle with the development of phonics awareness. These manipulatives will allow students to identify letter sounds, letter names, and learn how to segment/ blend sounds to read new words. This project focuses on using interactive materials such as magnetic letters, interactive board games to engage struggling readers in the reading process. Students are able to learn while having fun! There are emergent readers for students to build reading fluency and become engaged in the reading process. Students will work with the teacher in guided reading groups to ask and answer questions about stories. This project includes interactive activities for students to become engaged in the development of becoming fluent readers. Students can also work to use these materials in RTI groups with their peers in small groups.
This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
