Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My children love new stories and different ways of how we read stories. From drawing our own to listening to it in different ways. I would like to incorporate the final board stories with the stories that we do have. So they have another opportunity to tell the story in a different way.
Preschool Language Literacy Flannel
My project for preschoolers using flannel boards to develop language and literacy skills could include the following
Using the flannel pieces to create scenes and tell stories. For example, I would create a scene with a house, a dog, and a princess, and then ask the children to describe what they see and make up their own stories about the characters.
We will always be Incorporating letter and word recognition activities. For example, I have created flannel pieces for each letter of the alphabet and used them to spell words for the children to read.
When Incorporating different themes like counting, colors, and shapes. We could use the flannel pieces to teach counting by creating scenes with different numbers of objects and using flannel pieces of different colors and shapes to teach children about those concepts.
Encourage the children to create their own stories and scenes using the flannel pieces. This will give children the opportunity to practice language and literacy skills in a creative and engaging way.
Finally, the project could be extended by creating a flannel board library that the children can use during free play time.
