My Project

Using play and art can be tremendously beneficial for school counselors when working with children. Play and art provides a relaxed and non-threatening environment that allows children to express themselves more freely. Through play and art, a school counselor can establish a strong relationship with a child, leading to increased trust and rapport. For children who have experienced trauma or difficult life events, play and art can be a therapeutic tool. Engaging in play or art allows them to process their experiences symbolically, helping them make sense of what happened and work through their emotions. Play and art can be tailored to target specific concerns or challenges that a child may be facing, such as anxiety, bullying, grief, or social isolation. Overall, incorporating play into counseling sessions allows school counselors to create an engaging and effective therapeutic environment that meets the unique needs of children.
