Fostering Literacy in Science & Social Studies

My Project

My students are very curious and motivated to learn more about our science and social studies topics in 6th grade. They are fascinated by our studies of ancient civilizations as well as our science units. My goal is to put books in their hands that are both relevant and engaging. As a former ELA teacher, it’s so important students have access not only to fiction books but nonfiction books as well. The titles I have selected will assist us in classroom research projects but will also serve to stoke students’ curiosity even further. My goal is to help students become more globally aware and therefore better global citizens.
