My Project
These resources will directly address the wide range of literacy skills present in the classroom, from basic phonemic awareness and letter recognition to phonics, rhyming, CVC and CVCE word building, and early reading. By providing readily prepared materials, this project will significantly increase instructional efficiency, allowing the teacher and paraprofessionals more valuable time for individualized and small-group support, ultimately fostering greater literacy growth and independence for these students. Furthermore, providing these materials will alleviate the financial burden on families who may struggle to afford such resources.
The students in our moderate special education classroom present with a spectrum of learning profiles and literacy skills.
Currently, our students' abilities range from those just beginning to recognize letters and their corresponding sounds to those who are starting to decode CVC words and even engage with simple reading materials. Addressing this wide range of needs requires significant teacher and paraprofessional time for material preparation, differentiation, and individualized instruction.
