My Project
Our diverse New York City students, who speak more than 40 languages among them, love to get their hands dirty. We have done a lot of planting and growing herbs. Now we're reading to excavate, chip, hammer and dig up fossils. They don't even need to go on an archeological dig to do so. They can "dig" right here in the school library by chipping away at dirt bricks that contain real prehistoric shells, teeth, stones and other magical fossils! After unearthing these treasures, students will research and read all about them.
Students will read and research about plants, animals and rocks common to the Northeast where they live.
New York City children especially enjoy this connection to nature and this opportunity to learn about the imprint of nature on our past. Thanks for helping our students become scientists through hands-on learning and researchers as they gain literacy skills through early readers about fossils.
Every child wants the adventure of being a paleontologist! Thank you for helping us create a magical library that sparks students' imaginations and curiosity.
