Forever Friends: Indestructible Adventures with Elephant, Piggie, and Pigeon

My Project

This project aims to provide our elementary students with durable, high-quality editions of Mo Willems’ beloved book series. These titles are among the most frequently checked out in our school library, cherished by emerging readers for their humor, accessibility, and engaging illustrations. However, the current copies struggle to withstand the enthusiastic handling of young readers, especially those in kindergarten through 2nd grade.

By acquiring these books in specially bound, virtually indestructible formats, we can ensure that every child has continued access to these early literacy treasures without constant repair or replacement.

Elementary schools, especially those serving early readers, face the challenge of keeping popular titles available while maintaining book quality over time. The physical durability of books is crucial in high-circulation environments, and replacing worn-out copies is both costly and inefficient. Providing indestructible versions of the Elephant and Piggie and Pigeon series ensures these foundational books remain accessible, promotes independent reading, and fosters a love of literature in our youngest learners. This project will support literacy development and preserve stories that are not only favorites, but formative for lifelong reading habits.
