My students need 3 forensics kits to get excited about science. Too few minorities are majoring in science when they get to college. Add curriculum and experimental supplies!
My students NEED to get excited about science. In ten years there will be a larger need for science jobs than any other subject. And statistics show that too few students are majoring in science in college. I would benefit from having a teacher manual and we also need hair for our hair unit.
My NYC students are amazing, but unfortunately they do not get access to high quality science education very often.
When they get to high school, most of them think science is 'too hard' or is boring. I am trying to change this frame of mind. I want my students to give themselves a chance to learn. Having hands-on science activities is one way to do this.
My Project
Giving students choice in school leads to better grades and understanding. Having these supplies will allow my students to create experiments of their own. They will have a choice and therefore feel more ownership and pride over their education. This will undoubtedly lead to more successful students.
This donation will help me create a better course for my students.
I am not trained in forensics and there are very few supplies available for free. Finding both materials and curriculum has been difficult. This grant will allow me to create a better course for my students, who deserve it!
