it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My school's population primarily comes from minority backgrounds with the majority qualifying for free or reduced lunches.
We are revamping the science department to make sure our students are getting hands on labs. They are eager young scientists who love the discipline, but lack many detailed technical lab skills.
My Project
This DNA fingerprinting kit and micro pipette set will allow my students to be engaged in "real" scientific investigation. The more that science is hands on and real, the more engaged they become. Many of my students are considering careers in science such as nurses and especially crime scene investigators. They would love to do the real work they see on television in their own classroom.
This material is essential to make sure public school students have equal access to high quality science education.
Science gets expensive, but teaching our students to develop the technical lab skills and scientific thinking skills is one of the most important and least talked about aspects of our education system.
