Forces in Action---Get Students Attracted to LEARN!
My students need three different types of magnet kits to explore the world around them.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Bond's classroom raised $921

My Students
In order to get students excited and engaged in school, they need hands-on activities that will let them be curious. Students need to have the tools to explore science concepts. By using magnets, the students will test out real world items to determine what they are made of. Exploring = KNOWLEDGE!
My students are 7 to 9 years old.
They are eager to learn and very active. Our school is very diverse and the students speak many different languages. This in itself makes it challenging to teach them new concepts. These students need to see and do activities to understand them better. The students are naturally curious and by putting the right tools in their hands they will learn more and enjoy coming to school.
My Project
My students will be discovering how the world around them moves and works by using magnets to study force and motion. They will work in small groups to discover how much force it will take to move an object. The students will then learn that the Earth is like a huge magnet. They will be able to relate better to this concept by exploring and using magnets. When each student gets the opportunity to use tools like magnets they will make new discoveries about the world around them.
We will also test items outside of the classroom by using the magnets to classify the items they test. This activity will inspire collaboration, science conversations, and teamwork. My goal is to hook them early in the school year, so they continue to love coming to school to learn. The students will also talk to their friends and family and happily tell them what they are learning in school.
Magnets in the classroom will allow my students the opportunity to explore the world around them by using magnets.
Through hands-on activities the students will better understand these new concepts in science. These tools will allow the students to gain knowledge that will help them in the future. It will also improve their vocabulary as they will understand key terms like: attract, repel, force, insulator, and conductor. The students' lives will change as they view science in a positive way.
