Help me give my students solar-powered cars, Hot Wheels and track, and supplies to build catapults and balloon powered planes.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Meade's classroom raised $998

My Students
My third-grade students aspire to be engineers, astronauts, doctors, scientists, and inventors. We are a STEAM classroom, with all subjects including language arts integrated withScience, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics. What impresses me most about my students is that they don't give up when they are initially unsuccessful, but instead keep trying until they find a better solution. They are learning valuable skills as they work together to solve engineering design problems.
Third graders love learning about force and motion!
My Project
We will study Newton's Laws by building a catapult, balloon-powered plane, drag racer, and crash car. We will study the forces of flight using balsa wood gliders. We will create solar-powered vehicles. We will study friction using Hot Wheels and track. We will learn to draw our Hot Wheels race cars with our pastels and write a story about a race. We will experiment with simple machines.
Our school is just beginning to teach STEM, and these force and motion supplies will open the eyes of many of my students and inspire them to consider STEM careers in their futures.
