For The Younger Wonders

My students need a class set of "We're All Wonders" books to bring them awareness that we are all different and each a wonder.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are a Title I school, where 100% of our students receive free breakfast and free lunch. Some of our students and parents don't speak English and have trouble helping with homework. Most students English vocabulary is very limited. The only English they get is from school.

I have wonderful students!

They are excited and ready to learn. They are first graders so they love to talk and move around. They need a lot of different hands-on and creative ways to learn.

They have very positive attitudes and believe they can do anything. I do see my struggling students start to loose their confidence when they start having difficulties and feel they are staying behind. This will give them a hand to pull them back on track and not loose their confidence and to continue on a path of academic excellence.

My Project

As a First grade teacher, I teach my little ones about kindness and respect to all. This year I was extremely lucky to get many wonderful books that teach about tolerance. Like most children, my students do not hesitate to say what they think. They don't do it to be mean, that's just how these kids are. I love the original book, but it's too complicated for my little ones. This picture book is perfect for their age. We will read the book together and have some heart to heart discussion followed by some writing activities where they can express their thoughts about the subject. At the end I will give it to them to keep and read when they forget about how everyone is a wonder, even themselves.
