This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I want to fill our shelves with engaging, culturally relevant, and age-appropriate books that reflect their interests and lived experiences. These books will bring joy, foster a love of reading, and create a welcoming and inspiring classroom environment.

I’m asking for donations to help bring in new, high-interest books that will light up my students’ faces when they walk into the classroom.

I’ve selected titles that reflect their cultures, explore topics they’re passionate about, and encourage empathy, imagination, and critical thinking. From graphic novels to mysteries and nonfiction to contemporary fiction, these books are meant to meet my students where they are at and help them fall in love with reading.

These books will not just sit on a shelf. They’ll be read during silent reading time, and passed from one eager reader to the next. They’ll be part of book talks, reading circles, and hallway conversations. Most importantly, they’ll be a source of joy.

When students read books they connect with, they read more. When they read more, they grow not just academically, but socially and emotionally too. With your help, we can make reading feel less like a requirement and more like a celebration.
